A major French supermarket is selling fuel at cost price today (December 20) and tomorrow (December 21) at many of its stores in the run-up to Christmas.

Intermarché will sell fuel – petrol and diesel – at participating stores at the lower price in the hope it will entice drivers to do their Christmas shopping at the same time.

The deal will run during the opening hours of the associated shops and service stations, and not all stores are taking part – a list of participating Intermarché stores can be found here

Drivers do not need to present any card (such as an Intermarché loyalty card) to benefit, states the supermarket’s official website.

Despite a flurry of ‘cost-price’ sales throughout the year, other supermarket retailers are not holding similar deals this weekend.

TotalEnergies has committed to keeping its €1.99 per litre price cap on fuel throughout 2025.

Current prices for fuel are significantly below this however, at €1.897 per litre for SP98-E10 petrol, €1.774 for SP95-E10 petrol, €1.670 for diesel and €0.805 for bioethanol E85 according to petrol price measuring site Carbu.com.
