Your feedback on French pillows
Published Modified

A recent social media post questioned the quality of bedding in France.

In the post about a planned move to the country, the writer asked if there was any truth to the claim that it was hard to get good pillows in France.

We asked Connexion readers to respond to this claim. Here is what you told us:

To the editor,

“I brought French pillows back to the UK when I moved home. The shape is different, so bedlinen is unique to each country. They are just as comfortable.” C.N

“We recently bought wonderful pillows from the bed shop Emma in Tours. They had a very good selection of different types.” K.L

“I have always found French pillows comfortable, and it is easy to find good-quality rectangular pillows.” P.M

“In my experience with pillows (and yes, I agree it is hard to find them in shops), Ikea supplies the same pillows as those available in the UK, and they are good quality. As a bonus, the price is also attractive.” C.B

“This is a strange comment! Why would French bedding be any worse than anywhere else? I usually get mine at Ikea – it’s an international retailer, and the pillows are perfectly good, with plenty of variety. Even at a local supermarket or hypermarket, you can find good pillows. It depends on whether you want feathers or foam. You can also find pillows designed for specific needs, such as neck support.

“The only quibble I have with French bedding is that there aren’t enough flat sheets for king-size beds, only duvet covers. But I’ve even found them at Intermarché!

“It reminds me of an American woman who once asked me if water was safe to drink and salad safe to eat in Europe. Duh!” A.D
