Data Collected, Why, Retention Period and When
We collect information from you when you use the Service.
The information we collect is as follows:
- First name, last name, email address, location, whether you have previously visited our website and device type data when You create an account on Our website without making any purchase which gives limited access to our content.
This is undertaken via our EU-based provider.
We collect this for the purpose of providing You with the content that you are registering for and to optimise your experience via content personalisation. You are asked to consent to this when creating an account.
We hold this for as long as You have an account with Us and delete it immediately when you delete your account.
For paying customers, We hold this data for five years after the contract linked to the account has lapsed in line with the period of limitation for commercial disputes.
- First name, last name, email address when You register for our newsletter.
The newsletter is undertaken via our EU-based provider. We collect this for the purpose of providing You with the content that you are registering for, on the basis of consent. We hold this for as long as You do not unsubscribe from the newsletter (which is done via a simple “unsubscribe” button in each newsletter). We delete the data within a year of You unsubscribing from the newsletter.
For paying customers, We hold this data for five years after the contract linked to the account has lapsed in line with the period of limitation for commercial disputes.
- If You are a paying subscriber to any of our print services (i.e. You have purchased a subscription to receive our monthly newspaper), we provide your first name, last name and postal address to our EU-based provider. We collect this for the purpose of fulfilling our contractual obligations by sending you the product. We hold this data for five years after the contract linked to the account has lapsed in line with the period of limitation for commercial disputes.
- If You purchase a product from us (digital or physical), your payment is processed via our PCI-compliant EU-based provider. The provider collects your payment details (We do not have any access to these which are stored by our PCI-compliant EU-based provider) as well as billing details.
All subscriptions have an auto-renewal function activated. Your credit or debit card details are stored to enable this to work. You can switch off the auto-renewal function at any time via the 'My Account' area of the website. If you wish to have your credit or debit card details updated or removed completely from the secure database please email us at contact@connexionfrance.com with your name and the email address you used to subscribe and we will organise this. This data is collected for the purpose of fulfilling our contractual obligations.
Excluding payment details, We hold this data for five years after the contract linked to the account has lapsed in line with the period of limitation for commercial disputes.
