It's a recipe for disaster to use British plumbing fittings in France

To the Editor,

In response to recent debate in The Connexion about using UK fittings, I believe it is a recipe for disaster.

UK fittings do not conform and can pose real problems when you come to sell a property.

Only an amateur would have done the work, therefore there will be no guarantee and new owners would potentially have to rip out the fittings and replace them with French equivalents.

I know of someone who fitted a UK gas boiler with no certification whatsoever, and someone else who rewired their farmhouse using a UK-spec ring main – again, with no professional qualifications.

If you do not want to conform to French regulations, why are you in France in the first place?

A.S.
