Letters: pensioners in rural France fight digital life certificates

Reader says many people in rural France have trouble getting online

To the Editor,

I am concerned about UK pension suppliers putting life certificates entirely online.

What can people like me do when we regularly have no landline or internet?

Living in a rural area, we had over six months without this service in 2023 and so far this year seven weeks without.

I have a mobile but only for emergencies and sometimes have no service on that. So what happens if pension providers send requests online that we do not see for weeks or months?

These people should realise that not everyone is able to access computers all the time and leave things as they are so we are all treated fairly.
