British Airways launches bargain £2 flights to France (but there’s a catch)
The flights are only available to members of the airline’s Avios scheme who are redeeming loyalty points

A £2 flight to France or Spain has been launched by British Airways for summer 2026 - but only for travellers with enough points in the airline’s Avios loyalty programme.
The UK flag carrier is offering so-called ‘Avios-only’ seats from London City Airport to Toulon and Madrid.
Cash fares start at £2 one way. However, passengers must also redeem a set number of Avios - the airline’s reward currency earned through its frequent flyer scheme and selected partner spending.
All seats on the promotional flights are reserved exclusively for members of the British Airways Club booking with Avios. There is no option to purchase a standard cash ticket on these services.
For Toulon - a new addition to the airline’s network - members need 21,500 Avios plus £2.
For Madrid, the requirement rises to 28,000 Avios plus £2. Each ticket includes one checked bag of up to 23kg.
British Airways introduced dedicated Avios-only flights in 2023, making every seat on selected services available solely through points redemption.
The airline says it has since operated 48 such flights to destinations including Cape Town, Barbados, Málaga, Marrakech and Sharm El Sheikh (Egypt).
The Avios-only Toulon service will operate as a limited seasonal with the outbound flight departing London City Airport on June 13 and the return leg from Toulon operating on June 20.
Seats are available to book now via the British Airways website and remain restricted to Club members redeeming Avios points.
UK budget squeeze on airlines
The latest promotion comes against a backdrop of higher reward pricing.
Changes announced in the UK’s November 2025 Budget, combined with rising Air Passenger Duty and other third-party costs, have led the airline to increase both the Avios and cash elements on some reward fares.
Under previous pricing, certain long-haul economy redemptions required 50,000 Avios points plus £100. From mid-December 2025, this rose to 55,000 points and £120.
