France weather for the week ahead April 6 - 10: warm and sunny

Temperatures in France may reach or exceed the 30C ‘hot weather’ threshold this week

High temperatures and clear skies are forecast for the coming days in France.
Sandwiched between a low-pressure system over the Atlantic and a high-pressure system further east over Europe, France will experience a flow of very mild air moving in from the Iberian Peninsula, predicts La Chaîne Météo.
The warm weather is expected to continue through to Friday, when temperatures should drop but will remain mild for the season.
Monday April 6
Easter Monday brings sun across France, with high temperatures in the southern half of the country, particularly in the south-west reaching 28C in Bordeaux.
For the first time this year, temperatures may reach or exceed the 30C seuil de forte chaleur (hot weather threshold) in the departments of Landes, Béarn, Tarn and Dordogne.
The northern half of the country is slightly cooler, with highs of 17C in Lille, 19C in Paris, and 21C in Brest.
Some cloud cover is expected across the east of the country, gradually drifting east towards the German border.
Tuesday April 7
Blue skies and sunshine is forecast across much of France, with temperatures set to range between 20C and 28C.
It will be cooler along the south-east coast, reaching a maximum of 18C in Nice with cloudy spells expected.
Light clouds are also set to appear along the western border.
Wednesday April 8
Abnormally warm temperatures will persist mid-week.
The centre and north-west of the country will experience between 24C and 28C.
Clouds are set to cover the Spanish border in the morning and afternoon, however temperatures will still reach 28C in Tarbes and 20C in Perpignan.
Thursday April 9
The weather will become more cloudy from Thursday morning - particularly in Brittany and the east. Skies are also set to be overcast in the north, while elsewhere, the sun will continue to shine.
In the afternoon, France will be split in two with clouds and light rain in the north, and sunshine in the south.
Temperatures will range from 21C to 26C.
Friday April 10
Temperatures are expected to drop from Friday, but remain mild for the season.
The sky will be overcast across almost the whole country in the morning, before giving way to clouds. Rain showers are expected in the east.
Maximum temperatures are set to range between 15C and 18C in the north, and between 17 and 22C in the south.
