Bournemouth airport receives three French flight routes on a seasonal basis, each provided by budget airline Ryanair.

Ryanair currently connects travellers from Bergerac, Carcassonne and Nantes.

We review when these French flights operate and the cost of flying from each city.

Bergerac

Bergerac (Dordogne) in southwest France, in the region of Nouvelle-Aquitaine, is some 80km east of Bordeaux.

It sits along the Dordogne River, with a charming old town, traditional half-timbered buildings, and links to French writer, Cyrano de Bergerac, who was also the inspiration behind a famous play of the same name.

The Bournemouth to Bergerac-Roumanière flight route runs from May 1 until October 23, 2025. Flights are offered twice a week, on Thursdays and Sundays, and the journey takes one hour and 30 minutes. Prices start around €24 one-way.

Ryanair announced that it was cancelling winter flights this year from Bergerac (as well as Brive and Strasbourg) in part due to increased airline taxes in France, however it is expected to return to the airport in 2026.

Carcassonne

Carcassonne (Aude) is a town in the southern region of Occitanie, located between Toulouse and Narbonne.

It is known for its hilltop medieval fortress which was added to the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites in 1997, and thought to have been one of the main inspirations for Walt Disney’s Sleeping Beauty castle. The area has a fascinating history and is a popular tourist destination.

Flights between Bournemouth and Carcassonne run from May 3 to October 25, 2025. They are scheduled on Wednesdays and Saturdays with prices starting around €24 one-way. Flight time: one hour and 45 minutes.

Nantes

Nantes (Loire-Atlantique) is France’s sixth largest city, found in the west of the country in the Pays de la Loire region.

The city is home to a medieval château, a steampunk sculptural museum called Les Machines de L'ile, and a stylish shopping arcade that has been classified as a monument historique since 1976.

The Bournemouth - Nantes Atlantique route runs for a shorter summer period, from June 3 to September 30, 2025, with flights operating on Tuesdays and Saturdays. The flight time is one hour and 10 minutes, and prices start around €26 one-way.
