Letters: Check how noisy your French heat pump is before buying

Connexion reader has cleaner and more efficient home thanks to new system

Ensure you find a competent installer with a guarantee

To the Editor,

You recently published an article addressing the subject of noisy heat pumps.

It would be worthwhile underlining that you should check the decibel rating of your pump with the provider, as there is no need to install a noisy device these days.

Having said that, a whisper-quiet heat pump supplied by a competent installer who gives you a substantial guarantee will cost a little more.

This should, however, give you peace of mind as well as keeping you warm.

Moreover, we did not require any upgrading to our insulation, radiators or pipework.

We are happy without the aroma of oil and are satisfied that we are no longer polluting the local area.

Because of our age we may never recoup the investment in a heat pump.

Our bills are however less than half the cost of fuelling and maintaining our previous oil heating system.

We also believe that our cleaner and more efficient house may be easier to sell when the time comes.

G.K., Charente
