EasyJet has confirmed its Toulouse base will close in April 2025, with ten destinations from the airport to be dropped from its roster.

The decision – announced in September – has now been given a timeline. The carrier claims prolonged negotiations with unions over a job protection plan have been successful.

UK-Toulouse flights remains on roster

Despite the closure of the base and the removal of planes from the airport, the carrier will still fly to and from the city - but the number of destinations it serves is to be halved.

Flight to the following destinations – including its current UK routes – are to be maintained:

  • Nantes

  • Lyon

  • Nice

  • Paris-Orly

  • Basel-Mulhouse

  • London Gatwick

  • Bristol

  • Geneva

  • Milan-Malpensa

  • Palma de Mallorca

Flights to the following destinations will end:

  • Marrakesh

  • Berlin

  • Lille

  • Rennes

  • Faro

  • Porto

  • Menorca

  • Rhodes

  • Sardinia

  • Zadar

The 125 easyJet staff members based at the airport will be offered a position at one of easyJet’s six remaining French bases – in Paris Orly, Paris Charles de Gaulle, Lyon, Nice, Bordeaux or Nantes.

“Employees who cannot be transferred or who wish to leave the company will be able to benefit from solid support measures,” the firm said in a press release (quoted by Le Figaro).

The two easyJet planes based at the airport will be transferred to bases at Lyon and Nantes.

In addition, the carrier announced that plans to cut around 30 further jobs via a voluntary redundancy plan have also been accepted by the unions. The airline employs around 1,800 people in the country.

The airline cited a slow post-Covid recovery and pressure from inflation as key reasons for the decision.

There are currently no plans for the airline to close any of its remaining six French bases, although unions previously stated fears that further closures may be on the horizon.
