As a reminder, France is split into three ‘zones’ which have winter and spring holidays on different dates to avoid all families holidaying at the same time.

This helps traffic issues and also prolongs operations for seasonal holiday spots such as camping or ski resorts.
The chart below shows the dates for the 2026 - 2027 school year holidays in France.
The cities shown on the map are the location of each ‘Academy’ responsible for schooling in the area.
These correspond roughly to France’s mainland regions or collections of high-population departments.
Note that information for Corsica is not yet confirmed, but in previous years it has been aligned with Zone B. Information for overseas areas is not yet known.
As the chart shows, pupils will benefit from an enforced long weekend with all schools being closed on Friday May 7, 2027.
This is because it falls between two public holidays – Ascension on Thursday May 6 and Victory in Europe Day on Saturday May 8, 2027.
It is expected that many will plan to take this time off in any event.
