Repair costs to be covered by manufacturer but slots are currently scarce

A major recall of vehicles from American manufacturer Ford is underway in France due to a risk of fuel leakage.
In total, 77,722 vehicles have been recalled across France.
The affected models are:
Ford Fiesta cars manufactured between December 9, 2021 and July 26, 2023
Ford Puma cars manufactured between November 19, 2021 and September 24, 2024
Ford Transit Couriers and Ford Tourneo Couriers – two larger vehicles – manufactured between March 6, 2023 and September 24, 2024
These vehicles use the company’s ‘1.0 Ecoboost’ petrol engine which has the issue.
“Liquid fuel or vapors that accumulate near a sufficiently hot surface can potentially ignite and cause a fire in the engine compartment,” said the manufacturer (quoted in media outlet La Provence).
It says it has contacted drivers affected by the issue, however you can check if you are impacted by entering your vehicle’s details on the recall section of the Ford website.
Repair costs will be covered by the company, with the repair taking around thirty minutes.
However, a shortage of replacement parts means appointments may not be available until July at the earliest. To date some 10% of the vehicles have been repaired.
Unlike drivers affected by faulty airbags, the recall has not come alongside a warning that drivers should immediately stop using their vehicle until repairs have been carried out (a ‘stop drive’ campaign).
This is in place elsewhere from other vehicle manufacturers including Citroën over the issue of malfunctioning Takata airbags.
